Leaving school is an important decision.  It is the start of next part of your life.  It can be an exciting time, but it is also a time where it is really important that you make the right decisions for your future.

The Learning Pathways programme helps you to identify and explore your options. It is a free programme that develops work related numeracy and literacy as well as the personal development and work skills needed to be successful in your future social and career life. This includes goal setting, time management, skills in working with and communicating with others, CV writing and interview techniques.

The programme is self paced. You will develop a pathway plan and receive one to one assistance to put your plans into action.
 
This course is for you if you
  • want help in getting a job
  • think school or being unemployed is no longer the best option for you
  • want to carry on with your education and improve your literacy and numeracy skills
  • want to improve your skills and get training you need to get the job you want
  • want to be on a programme where learning is enjoyable
  On this course you will ...
  • Complete NZQA Unit Standards that help you get a job or get into a
    specialised training programme
  • Improve your literacy and numeracy skills especially those that are needed for getting a job
  • Spend time each week in a work placement if you want to get a job
  • Use computers and have access to them for your work
  • The programme also includes – fun afternoon activities including sports, swimming and other recreational and cultural activities as well as First Aid and FREE Driver Licence training.
  • Every student who really wants a job or wants to move into specialised training will be successful. 
Nationally recognised certificates- On the Learning Pathways programme you will complete Unit Standards towards
  • National Certificate in Employment Skills
  • National Certificate of Educational Achievement
Eligibility Criteria *Learning Pathways is for people 16 to 17 years of age* or 18 years and have left school or been on another course within last 6 months. The course is free for eligible participants who have left school and it will prove to you that learning can be exciting and fun. Students may also be eligible for training and travel allowances.
